How to Make your own Home Management Binder

I am SUPER excited to share today’s post with you. I have wanted to make a household management binder for quite some time now in order to keep myself better organized. Today I’m going to show you how easy it is to make your own—and you don’t need to purchase anything other than a binder, divider tabs, and colorful pens. How awesome is that?

All of my materials came from Target, pretty much my favorite store ever. The colorful binder and divider tabs are both from the company Greenroom and are 100% recycled—I like that! The pens are PaperMate.

There are a ton of printables available online to help you customize your binder to suit your specific needs. Plenty of Etsy shops specialize in home management printables, and while there are some excellent options there, I found it difficult to locate a package that provided every printable I was looking for. So I decided to search the web for the best individual home management printables and I found a load of them that I would like to share with you. But first, I will explain how I organized my binder….

CATEGORIES

I decided that I needed the following categories for my binder: Cleaning, Finances, Meal Planning, House Projects, and Miscellaneous. There are plenty of awesome printables out there that are more geared toward families, but since right now it’s just my fiancé and me, I chose to stick to these basics.

The inside of my binder has a pocket where I decided to keep my grocery shopping list, which came from Michelle Lea Designs.

I decided I needed an inspirational quote, and I like this one from World Label.

photo-6

And I love this monthly calendar, also by World Label–it’s editable!

I also really liked this “What’s in Season” calendar from Frugal Living since I don’t really know what months are best for what fruits and vegetables.

Next, I have the A Peek at the Week printable from one of my favorite blogs, iheart organizing. I used several of her other printables because she has so many great templates and I love how bright they are!

photo-8

And this awesome daily schedule from World Label…I love how it breaks agenda items into smaller sub-categories.

Next up is a page for my monthly blog statistics so that I can keep track of how my blog readership increases over time. This one came from This Simple Home.

CLEANING

For my cleaning section, I started with a Once-a-Week Cleaning Checklist from Life in Sam’s BOX.

photo-11

I really like this stain removal checklist from Martha Stewart, so I threw that in the binder too.

photo-12

I’m very interested in “greenifying” my cleaning practices, so I printed out this ingredient list for green cleaning supplies, also from iheart organizing.

photo-13

And then for my spring cleaning checklist, I really liked this comprehensive one from Imperfect Homemaking.

FINANCES

For my financial section, I printed the Check Register template, again from heart organizing (you’re probably starting to see a trend here!).

photo-15

Next, I added a Bill & Payment tracker, again from Life in Sam’s BOX.

photo-16

And then a monthly spending worksheet, from Frugal Living.

MEAL PLANNING

To start off my meal planning section, I included the Cooking Conversion Chart from Remodelaholic.

photo-18

I liked this other version as well from Try It Like It.

photo-19

To keep track of different recipes I find, I printed out the following family recipe references sheet from iheart organizing.

And I liked this weekly menu planner from Imperfect Homemaker.

HOUSE PROJECTS

For the home management section, I used this checklist from iheart organizing to keep track of home projects.

photo-22

And another from iheart organizing to plan out specific organizing projects…..
photo-23

And another from iheart organizing–what an awesome idea to make a printable to keep track of paint project colors!

MISCELLANEOUS

My last section is titled “Miscellaneous” because it’s currently a bit of a catch-all. I’ve lumped medical, car maintenance, and holiday-related stuff together because I don’t have enough to make a section for each one currently. If I find more printables, I’ll be sure to share them though!

I like this Exam Tracker from Clean Mama.

photo-25

This very handy, comprehensive car maintenance came from Frugal Living.

photo-26

And finally, the last two printables–Holiday Gift Tracking and this awesome Size Details chart–came from iheart organizing.

With my new home management binder I feel ready to tackle the world! What method do you use to keep track of house-related activities? Got any printables you’d like to share? I’d love to hear about them.
